Why cant I sleep? When I'm about to fall asleep, I get excited that im about to sleep, causing me to wake up again. It repeats till my sleepiness is gone. I tried taking melatonin and not using my phone, but I end upawake for hours.

I’ll mention a couple things that help me sleep: I turn off the television at least 2 hours before going to bed….why…..because the bright light than comes off T.V. and smartphone screens trick the brain from producing melatonin, the natural chemical we produce that makes us feel relaxed and sleepy, it’s called ‘blue light’. I just slowly wind down not looking at a screen of some sort….and I also reduce the lighting in my apartment, like do some reading of short stories (or what you like to read) the room is lit by a lamp or light in the kitchen…which reflects onto my sitting area. Then about an hour before going to bed I turn off my smartphone…..and leave it in the other room. I also eat a light dinner at least 3 hours before bed so I have an empty stomach.
